Brandon Lark has just one month to paint a life-size 5′ x 3′ x 8′ cow with his design. A junior, he is one of the finalists for the Sixth Annual National Lucerne Dairy Competition.

Mrs. Ali, an art teacher, mostly inspired him to follow through with this. “Mostly Mrs. Ali [inspired me by] just throwing out ideas,” Lark said.

He wanted to do the competition this year because when he was a boy he had a chance to paint the crab that’s right outside of the school, but he never got the chance to do that.

For someone who has to paint a life-size cow, he’s not afraid of tackling it. “Yeah, I’m feeling a little confident about it. At least I have a plan on how to do it.”

He was shocked when he heard that he had to paint a cow. He was afraid “that it wouldn’t get finished. I keep telling everyone that the cow is going to stay white for a few more weeks.

Brandon only has a couple of more weeks left to finish this cow. Will he finish it in time? “Probably like the day before. Usually like the last minute is when I get everything done. I’ll get done one way or another,” he said.

Brandon will be using Acrylic Paint to paint his cow. “We’re getting a clear coat so nothing damages it while it’s outside,” he said.

He’s been pretty busy with this cow since it came in. “I’ll feel relieved when this is all over with,” said Lark.
